Design
Colours, fonts and look. Plus the live editor, which lets you work in the preview.

How do I set colours and the logo?
Once, in the Settings — look and logo carry through the entire website. You do not need to set anything per page.
This is why a site built with Aurora Hive Sites holds together even when many people write for it: the design does not live in the content.
What is the live editor?
The way to work directly in the real preview instead of in form fields. Every page has the “Edit live” button at the top.
This is how it works: click the block you want to change in the preview — it gets a frame. The block’s fields open on the right — type, done. The preview follows immediately.
You can also drag blocks into the right place there. The page looks exactly as it will later for the visitor.
What can I change in the “Style” tab?
There you choose the design by mood, colour and font — for the entire website, not just for the open page.
That is convenient and should therefore be used with care: a change there affects every page. Look at two or three other pages afterwards before you publish.
What is the difference between the live editor and Aurora Hive Live?
The live editor works on the draft — it is part of the admin and intended for you.
Aurora Hive Live goes one step further: with it, people without access to the admin can also change texts directly on the published page.
In short: live editor = you, before publishing. Aurora Hive Live = someone else, afterwards.
I saved in the live editor — is it online now?
No. Saved is not yet published — the real website stays unchanged until you publish.
The live editor works on the draft and looks just like the real page while doing so. That is exactly what regularly leads to the assumption that it is already live. The publish button is at the top of the overview.
Can I use my own fonts?
Yes, but pay attention to where they are loaded from. Fonts that a published page loads from a third-party server transmit every visitor’s IP address there — this has led to cease-and-desist letters in Germany and otherwise requires consent.
Aurora Hive Sites therefore serves the fonts it uses itself. If you add fonts of your own, do the same: upload the file and include it locally instead of linking to it.
Do I have to design the page separately for phones?
No. The blocks adapt; that is why you do not need to worry about layout.
What you should still do: look at the preview on a phone. Two things regularly stand out there — headings that are too long, and images with important content at the edge, which disappears on narrow screens.
Can I choose a different design afterwards?
Colours, fonts and mood, yes — at any time, via the “Style” tab or the settings.
Taking over a complete template from the marketplace is something else: it cannot be undone and replaces content. If in doubt, apply it to a new website and move over, rather than overwriting a site that is already filled.
Which colours should I choose?
Few. One main colour, one accent colour for buttons, plus black and white — no business website needs more.
Two points that matter more than taste:
- Contrast. Nobody reads light text on a light background, least of all on a phone in sunlight.
- Your existing look. If there are vehicles, signs and letterheads, the website has nothing of its own to invent.
What should I watch out for regarding readability?
Three things that are easy to overlook because you know your own text:
- Font size. What looks large on a 27-inch screen is small on a phone.
- Line length. Very wide blocks of text are tiring; the blocks limit this by themselves.
- Text on images. Only with a sufficiently dark or light area underneath — otherwise it disappears, depending on the image.
Check it on a phone, in daylight.
What happens if I leave the live editor without saving?
Unsaved changes are gone — as in any form.
So get into two habits: save after every block, and save in between for longer texts. This is particularly important if you work on a page for a long time: if the session expires, anything unsaved is lost.
How do I change the logo?
In the settings, under the look. It then applies to the entire website.
Pay attention to the file: PNG, JPEG or WebP — SVG is deliberately not accepted, because it can contain executable parts. For a logo, PNG with a transparent background is usually the best choice.
I want something the blocks cannot do.
First check whether it is really necessary: the most common special request is an arrangement that collapses on a phone anyway.
If it remains, it makes for a good report — describe what for, not how: “I need an overview of opening hours per location” gets further than “Please add a three-column table”.
What you should not do is embed third-party content that loads from other servers — that creates exactly the problems described in the Legal section.
Is your question not listed?
Try the search — it covers all chapters at once. And if something really is missing here, let us know: in the program at the bottom right via “Report a problem”.
