Accessibility
This site is built so that it remains usable without a mouse, without colour perception and without motion. Here is what that means in practice — and what we have not yet checked.
What works
- Keyboard. Everything can be reached with Tab, and questions open with Enter or the space bar. At the very top, a skip link leads straight to the content; it only becomes visible when it receives focus.
- Screen readers. Every question is a heading inside an expandable element; the answer text is fully present in the document even when it is collapsed.
- Zoom. All sizes are relative. At 200 per cent font size the text stays readable without horizontal scrolling.
- Motion. If you have set “Reduce motion” in your system, you get the demo films as still images and page through them by hand with the dots. There is no animation that cannot be stopped.
- Contrast. The site is dark by default and can be switched to light at the top right; both versions meet the required contrast values. Colour never carries information on its own.
- Without scripts. The pages are finished HTML. Even if scripts are blocked, all answers can be read and the search can be used via the form on the home page.
What is still open
- The demo films are drawings with a description of each image; there is no written-out text version of the whole sequence — but the sequence is always also described in the answer text next to it.
- No full audit under BITV 2.0 (the German accessibility ordinance) by an independent body has taken place. The statements above are based on our own tests.
Feedback
If you come across something that cannot be operated, please report it via “Report a problem” in the program or via the contact details in the legal notice (Impressum). We treat barriers that stop someone from reading as bugs — not as wishes.
