Larger text, more contrast, use without a mouse. What can be set and where the limits are.

Click a question to read the answer.

What accessibility settings are there?

Path Settings → Accessibility

In the settings under Accessibility, and everything takes effect immediately, without reloading:

  • Font size and line spacing
  • Contrast
  • Calmer movement
  • Typefaces designed for legibility: Atkinson Hyperlegible and OpenDyslexic
  • Colour adjustments for red, green and blue colour deficiency

Everything applies only to you. “Reset to default” takes you back at any time.

Can I use everything without a mouse?

Keyboard use is provided for throughout: Tab moves on, Enter and Space trigger, Escape closes dialogues and explanation bubbles.

The explanations at the ⓘ can expressly be reached with the keyboard and are linked via the description association to the field they belong to — in the previous version this did not work, as it only reacted to mouse movement.

The full list of shortcuts is in the settings under Keyboard and opens anywhere with “?”.

Does it work with a screen reader?

The groundwork is in place: headings are headings, buttons are buttons, fields have labels, and the explanation bubble at the ⓘ is linked to its field so that it is read out as well.

What we do not claim: that every view has been tested with every screen reader. A full audit by an independent body has not taken place.

If you come across a place that cannot be read out, report it with “Report a problem”. We treat barriers as errors, not as wishes.

Animations make me unwell. What happens then?

Aurora Hive Sales, Aurora Hive Sites and this help centre follow the system setting “Reduce motion”. If it is set, animations do not start.

The demo films then show the same scenes as a calm still image that you page through by hand. For some people, that is exactly what makes it possible to use them at all — so it is not a stopgap but an equivalent second version.

You can also set this in Aurora Hive Sales itself, independently of the system.

Where are there still problems?

Two points we state openly:

  • Image-heavy areas. The template editor and the website workspace are designed for drag and drop; using them without a mouse is laborious.
  • No independent audit. What is said here is based on our own tests, not on an audit report under BITV 2.0 (the German accessibility regulation).

Neither is a reason not to use it — but you should know beforehand rather than having to find out yourself.

With large text, the display gets out of place. Is that a bug?

Up to around double the font size, everything should stay readable without horizontal scrolling — the dimensions are kept relative for that purpose.

Beyond that, views with wide tables can get cramped. Two things help: set the density to Comfortable, and hide what you do not need in the navigation — that creates room across the width.

If a particular view becomes unusable with your setting, that is worth a report. Give the font size and the area.

What do the colour adjustments do?

They change the colour scheme so that differences remain recognisable even with a colour vision deficiency — separately for protanopia (red), deuteranopia (green) and tritanopia (blue).

Regardless of that, the following applies throughout the program: colour never carries information on its own. Wherever something is red, there is a word next to it — “overdue”, “missing”, “act”.

What do the special typefaces do?

Atkinson Hyperlegible is designed to make similar-looking characters distinguishable — the classic confusion between capital I, lower-case l and the number one.

OpenDyslexic shifts weight downwards, which makes reading easier for some people with dyslexia. Whether it helps varies from person to person — try it out; it costs one click and applies only to you.

Can I print pages?

With the browser’s print function — for lists and overviews this works reasonably well.

Where it is about a document someone will hold in their hands, there is a better way: PDF. Reports, contracts, one-pagers and the visibility findings are produced as PDFs and then look like it too.

In this help centre, a printout is complete: answers are included in the document even when collapsed.

Can I enlarge the page with the browser?

Yes — with Ctrl and + or the browser’s zoom. That affects everything, including images.

The setting in the program settings is usually the better choice: it enlarges the text without stretching the layout, and applies on every device you sign in on. You can combine the two.

How do I report a barrier?

With “Report a problem” — just like any other error, and that is the attitude behind it: we treat barriers as errors, not as wishes.

What belongs in the report: which view, which aid (screen reader, keyboard, magnification) and what exactly does not work. These three details make the difference between a report that can be reproduced and one that can only be noted.

Is your question not listed?

Try the search — it covers all chapters at once. And if something really is missing here, let us know: in the program at the bottom right via “Report a problem”.
